Cold chain protection with 48-hour confidence

Meet Cencora’s new 48-hour refrigerated packaging solution

Cencora’s new refrigerated packaging is designed to strengthen cold chain protection while improving the overall shipping experience. Developed in collaboration with TemperPack, the updated solution is qualified to maintain refrigerated temperatures for a minimum of 48 hours, extending performance by a full 24 hours compared with the current packaging.

The new design replaces traditional EPS Styrofoam insulation with ClimaCell® liner insulation, which can be recycled with other curbside recyclable materials. It also includes an updated exterior shipping box to create a more consistent packaging experience while keeping Cencora branding less visible during transit to support shipment safety and security practices.

Together, these enhancements reflect Cencora’s focus on product integrity, sustainability, and reliable cold chain performance across both summer and winter shipping profiles.

Why the new packaging matters

48-hour performance

Refrigerated coolers have been qualified against ISTA 7D Winter and ISTA 7E Summer profiles to maintain refrigerated temperature for a minimum of 48 hours.

Recyclable insulation

Existing EPS Styrofoam insulation is being replaced by ClimaCell® liner insulation, which can be recycled with other curbside recyclable materials.

Delivery commitment

Cencora delivers refrigerated product by 10:30 AM local time the next business day anywhere in the continental U.S.
Friday orders remain in a temperature-controlled environment over the weekend and are shipped on Sunday to arrive on Monday.

Secure transit design

The exterior shipping box is being updated to provide a more consistent packaging experience, while Cencora branding is not prominently visible during transit to support shipment safety and security practices.
